John+ was born about 1296 in Loch Rusky, Stirling, Scotland. John+'s father was John Stewart Of+ Menteith and his mother is Marjorie De+ Strivelyn. His paternal grandparents were Walter+ Stewart and Mary+ Menteith. He had two sisters named Nm+ and Joanna+. He was the oldest of the three children.
