(12-27-2003 - Receipt of letter from "Curia Vescovile di Pescia--(archives of the parish there), stating Iacopini/Jacopini and Pippi lineage to late 1700s) It has been explained to me by my genealogist that "Iacopini" is sometimes spelled "Jacopini" and means "little Jacob" or "little James." The "J" is missing from the Italian alphabet but is a holdover from Latin, so the "I" and "J" are interchangeable. Therefore, Iacopini and Jacopini are the same name and may be interchanged, depending upon who is doing the writing.
