Walter was born before June 1403. Walter's father was John+ Hamilton and his mother is Jacoba+ Douglas. His paternal grandfather was David+ Hamilton and his paternal grandmother is Janet+ Keith; his maternal grandparents were James+ Douglas and Agnes+ Dunbar. He had a brother and two sisters, named James+, Mary+ and Catherine. He is the youngest of the four children.General Notes
