Donna Katherine Loyless Hayes 1988, "I Remember When...." Memoirs and Essays on the Paternal Ancestry of Albert Hendon Loyless, p. 21. All Greenwood families in America are believed to trace back to the vicinity of Heptonstall in the West Riding of Yorkshire, where there exists a mile and a half from that village a manor house built by Wyomarus de Greenwode de Greenwode-Leghe or one of his immediate descendants. He was a caterer to the mother of King Henry II (1154-1189). 19 generations from Wyomarus to William Greenwood of London have been researched by Frederick Greenwood and Kenneth P. Darling.
