Artus was born about 1478. Artus' father was Guillaume Gouffier and his mother was Philippa De Montmorency. His maternal grandfather was Jean II De Montmorency and his maternal grandmother is Marguerite D' Orgemont. He had a brother and a sister, named Guillaume and Charlotte. He had a half-sister named Laurette De. He died in May 1519. He was buried in Collegiale Saint Maurice, Oiron.General Notes
