James was born about 1455. James' father is John Gordon and his mother is Elizabeth Abernethy. His paternal grandparents were John+ Gordon and Elizabeth+ Maitland; his maternal grandfather was Lawrence+ Abernethy and his maternal grandmother is Margaret+ X. He had a sister named Janet. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1537. He was buried in St. Martin or Botarie Kirk.General Notes
