Valdemar was born about 1280. Valdemar's father was Magnus II+ Folkungaatten and his mother was Hedwig Von+ Holstein. His paternal grandparents were Birger+ Folkungaatten and Ingeborg+ Erikatten; his maternal grandparents were Gerard I Von+ Holstein and Elizabeth Von+ Mecklenburg. He had a brother named Erik+. He was the older of the two children. He died in 1318 in Nykoping--murdered..General Notes
