Robert was born about 1608. Robert's father was Robert Digby and his mother was Lettice Fitzgerald. His paternal grandparents are George Digby and Abigail Heveningham; his maternal grandfather was Gerald Fitzgerald and his maternal grandmother is Catherine Knollys. He was an only child.
