"Bluford was a half brother of John Calvin Davis. They had the same father who was full blooded Seminole Indian. (this last sentence was not in the book at the Charleston Library, but was found by Amy Box in the original information at the Mitchell Library in Lawrence Co IN.) Bluford came to Lawrence Co from Kentucky 1816."
"This is a direct quote, 'We visited at the home of a great-granddaughter of Bluford Davis, Mrs. Ella (Ostrander) Lindsey, living at Mitchell, IN. She took us to the Spring Mill State Park located south of Mitchell, where the state of Indiana has restored the pioneer villiage. The old log house, now used as the tavern, was once owned by Bluford Davis. Mrs Lindsey could remember when they moved it there from not far away. There was a stone grist and saw mill operated by water power. The park contained 1294 acre of land with virgin timber and several caves. Here the pioneers came to grind their grain as far back as 1817 and perhaps further.' "
