Dorothy was born about 1490 in Culworth, Oxfordshire, England. Dorothy's father was John Danvers and her mother was Anne Stradling. Her paternal grandfather was Richard Danvers and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Langston; her maternal grandparents are John Stradling and Alice Langford. She was an only child.
