Joao Esteves was born about 1290. Joao Esteves' father is Estavo Peres Coelho and his mother was Maria Mendes Petite. His paternal grandparents are Pedro Anes Coelho and Margarida Esteves De Teixeira; his maternal grandparents are Soeiro Mendes Petite and Maria Anes Brochado. He had a sister named Branca Peres.
