Jean de was born about 1258. Jean de's father was Geoffroy V De+ Chateaubriand and his mother is Belle Assez De+ Thouars. His paternal grandparents were Geoffroy IV De+ Chateaubriand and Sibylle De+ Thouars; his maternal grandfather was Aymery VII De+ Thouars and his maternal grandmother is Marie Sibylle De+ Laval. He had a brother and a sister, named Geoffroy VI De+ and Alienor De. He is the second oldest of the three children.General Notes
