James' father was John Campbell and his mother is Beatrix Campbell. His paternal grandfather was Archibald Campbell and his paternal grandmother is Agnes Ross; his maternal grandparents were Colin Campbell and Margaret Stewart. He had a brother named Colin. He died in January 1645.General Notes
