John was born about 1480. John's father was William Brown. His paternal grandfather was Thomas+ Brown and his paternal grandmother is Eleanor+ Fitzalan. He was an only child. He died after 1547.General Notes

"William Brown (son of Sir Thomas and Eleanor (FitzAlan) Brown had a son who finally settled at Tavistock (Sir Bernard Burke's LG); The son's name was located in Har. MSS, and Rawlinson's MSS 6164.287, and in another MS in Queen's College, Oxon; the son's name was John Brown of Tavistock. John Brown married and had a daughter Thomazine Brown who was the wife of John Glanville. In a land parcel deed in Tavistock dated 1548, it has been found that the land passed from John, son of William Brown, to his son-in-law John Glanville of Tavistock, husband of his daughter Thomazine. The parcel later passed to their son Nicholas. (Ref. 'Notes of the Glanville and Brown Pedigrees' article by W.U.S. Granville-Richards, published in an 1884 edition of 'Western Antiquary' (located on the Dartmoor Press site, Mike Brown). This John is apparently an ancestor of Bessie Wallis (Warfield) Simpson, if he had a son Thomas, as shown by some researchers."
