Sylvester Jacob was born on February 7th, 1833. Sylvester Jacob's father was Josiah Baumgardner and his mother was Elizabeth Maus. His paternal grandparents were Jacob+ Baumgardner and Mary Magdalene+ Kraft. He had three brothers and a sister, named Alexis, Jerome L., William H. and Mary Johanna.
