Mary was born in 1257 in Thurston, Suffolk, England. Mary's father was Lord William de Say III and her mother was Sibyl Marshall. Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey de Say II and Lady Alice de Cheny; her maternal grandfather is John Marshall and her maternal grandmother was Lady Alice de Cheny. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Agnes. She is the youngest of the three children.General Notes
