Hugh was born about 1073 in Ewyas Lacy, Herefordshire, England. Hugh's father was Baron Walter de Lacy of West Hereford and his mother is Emmeline. His paternal grandparents are Hugh de Lacy and Emma de Bois L'Eveque. He had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert, Agnes and Emma. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died before 1115.-
