William was born about 1225 in Whitley Beaumont, West Riding, Yorkshire, England.  William's father is Ralph Dronsfield and his mother is Mabel.  His paternal grandfather is Nicholas de Dronsfield.  He is an only child.

‌William and Cecilia were married in a religious ceremony about 1249.  They have a son named John.
