Hucbald was born in Ostrevant, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.  Hucbald's father is Count Thibaud d'Artois II of Ostrevant.  His paternal grandfather is Count Autbald d'Artois III of Ostrevant. He had a brother named Adalbald.  He died in 0893.
