The original seat of the family of Troussebot is supposed to have been in the NW part of the district of Neubourg, Normandy, near the domain of the Harcourts. Pagan Troussebot is the first known member of the family and was probably the warrior at Hastings. His son Geoffrey Fitz Paye held estates in Yorkshire before the reign of Henry I.
