Emperor Philip I ("the Arab") 
Philip I, known as "the Arab", was born in 0204 in Shahba. "the Arab"'s father is Emperor Lucius or Julius Didius Marinus and his mother is Cornifica. His paternal grandparents are Marcus Petronius Severus and Aemilia Clara; his maternal grandparents were Emperor Marcus Aurelius of Rome and Annia Galleria Faustina. He was an only child. Marcus Julius Philippus (about 204 - 249), known in English as Philip the Arab, was Roman emperor from 244 to 249. Little is known about Philip's early life and political career. He was born in Shahba, roughly 55 miles south-southeast of Damascus, in the Roman province of Syria. He was the son of a Julius Marinus, a local Roman citizen, possibly of some importance. The name of his mother is unknown, but sources refer to a brother, Gaius Julius Priscus, a member of the Praetorian guard under Gordian III. Philip married Marcia Otacilia Severa and had a son named Marcus Julius Severus Philippus in 238.
