Miles was born about 1508 in Shefford, Berkshire, England. Miles' father was John Fettiplace and his mother was Dorothy Danvers. His paternal grandparents were Richard Fettiplace and Elizabeth Bessiles; his maternal grandparents were John Danvers and Ann Stradling. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Edmund, Thomas, John, Susan, Anne, Bridget or Margaret and Eliszabeth. He is the fourth oldest of the eight children.General Notes
