George was born in 1394 in Clifton, Cheshire, England.1   George's father was John Savage and his mother was Maud De Swynnerton.  His paternal grandfather was John Savage; his maternal grandparents were Robert De Swynnerton and Elizabeth Beke. He had five brothers and fifteen sisters, named Robert, Roger, John, John, Thomas, Maude, Elizabeth, Alice, Blanch, Margaret, William Arnold, Be Atrice, Beatrice, Ann, Isabel, Parnella, Dorothy, Margery, Ellen and Ellen.  He was the second oldest of the twenty-one children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Richard and Alice.
