Emigrant in 1623 With Husband From Prisches, Valenciennes, Hainault, France ONThe Eendracht

# Note: Catalyntze was born in 1605 in Pry, France, on the Herve River directly south of Charleroi in Hainault. Catalyntje was an 18 year oldbride when she and Joris boarded the ship to New Netherland.

    After Joris's death, Catalyntie continued to live at her farm. She was described by a nephew after a visit to her in 1680 as follows:

    ".....an old Walloon woman...74 years old. She is worldly-minded, with mere bonte (human goodness), livingwith her whole heart, as well as body, among her progeny, which now number 145, and will soon reach 150. Nevertheless, she lives alone by herself, a little apart from the others, having her little garden and other conveniences, with which she helped herself..."
