Suebi, Marcomanni and Quadi, Hermunduri, Semnones,andLangobardi(Lombards). the Alemanni wer e also part of theSuebitribalgroup, which gave its name to the German principality ofSwabia .Elbe River. Dislodged by the Huns, some Suebi crossed the RhineRiver andin 409 entered Spai n, settling mainly in thenorthwest(Gallaecia). By447, under their king Rechila, the Suebi ha dspread over the Romanprovinces of Lusitania and Baetica.  Although theSuebi entered Spai n aspagans, their king Rechiar came to the throne as aChristian in 448. Hewas later defeate d by the Visigoths under TheodoricII in 456.
