Edward was born in 1309 in , Salisbury, Wilsthire, England. Edward's father was William De Montagu Baron Montacute and his mother was Elizabeth De Montfort 2 wife. His paternal grandparents were Simon De Montagu Baron Montagu and Hawaise De Saint Amand; his maternal grandfather was Peter De MONTFORt Knight and his maternal grandmother is Matilda De La Warr. He had three brothers and six sisters, named John, Simon, William De, Maud, Alice, Mary De, Katherine, Hawise and Isabel. He died at the age of 33 in 1342.-
