Ingild is a genealogical placeholder used to show the relations of all of
the kings of Wessex, however, he might have been an actual historical
West Saxon prince.

When King Caedwall of Wessex died in 688, Ina became king. In 710
he fought with the Welsh, and in 715 he fought with King Ceolred at
Wanborough. In 725 he defeated the South Saxons and slew Ealdbert,
a West Saxon who he had driven into exile. He died in 728.
