General Notes

 Old man John built the fence around the Hadley grave site at Seven Miles Springs Alabama. My grandmother knew him and described him as the closest thing to a saint she ever met on this earth. (Information provided by John Hadley, Portland, Oregon)

This shows the date is 1884, not 1834, as mistakenly reported by the Hadley Society. There is a screw between the 2 eights so you have to enlarge and look closely. The fence and gate were erected in 1884 by John Hadley to enclose his son, John Benjamin and his stillborn child, who both died in 1884. This photo was provided by John Dean. Ben Hadley and wife Betty are also buried here, but outside of the  fence, along with several others that we can not figure out. There are no engravings on any of the stones. Ben died in 1830 and Betty about 1826.
This photo is actually a combo of 2 taken by cousin John Dean when we finally found it. It took 2 days and help from 2 other cousins, Bob and Nip Hadley as well as a neighbor. This is in a very remote wilderness and is hard to find to say the least. We marked it well and intend to get back and clean it up to show our ancestors the respect they deserve. Buried here are Ben and Betty Hadley who died in 1830 and 1826 respectively and also John Benjamin Hadley and his stillborn child, who both died in 1884. There are other stones here, none are engraved, but we have no idea who they might be.
