Poppo II Count of was born about 0855 in Sorbenmark, Thuringia, Germany.1 Poppo II Count of's father was Poppo I Count of Saargau. He had a brother named Heinrich von. He was the younger of the two children. He died after 0906 in Grabfeld, Bavaria, Germany.1 General Notes

Poppo, was count of the march in Thuringia from 880 to 892, when he was deposed by the German Carolingian king Arnulf of Carinthia. The family had been favoured by the emperor Charles the Fat, but Arnulf reversed this policy in favour of the rival family of the Conradines.
