From the book "A History of the Vikings" by Gwyn Jones, to the effectthat:

The northern royal mound or barrow at Jellinge in Jutland, that isassociated with the rune stone raised by Gorm, is deduced to have beenbuilt by Gorm and contained a large burial chamber lined with wood,intended for two persons but empty upon excavation (ref 5 citing anarchaeological report).

The disarticulated skeletons of a man and woman, apparently Gorm andThyri, was discovered beneath the remains of a 10th century church atJellinge, and are deduced to have been removed from the north barrow andgiven a Christian burial by their son Harald Bluetooth (ref 5). Gorm musthave been dead by 954 when the Norwegian king Haakonthe Good isdetermined to have invaded Denmark, then the realm of king HaraldBluetooth (ref 5 which actually suggests he was dead by 950).

If the coffin was the one found with Gorm's body under the remains of thechurch, then the tree ring evidence might reflect the date of his sonHarald Bluetooth's conversion, usually dated to 960-5, and not when Gormdied.

In 935 or 936 when Bishop Unni visited Gorm in Denmark, he had a moresympathetic reception from Gorm's son Harald than from Gorm himself whowas hostile.  If this Harald was indeed Gorm's son, Harald Bluetooth, andnot an earlier Harald, then it is likely that Gorm was born c890 if notbefore.
