His paternal grandparents were John "de Knayth" Darcy Baron Darcy and Elizabeth B. Meynell; his maternal grandfather was Thomas Grey Knight and his maternal grandmother is Margaret De Pressene. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Phillip, William, Agnes, Elba (Elena) (Ellen) and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 34 on December 9th, 1411 in , Templehirst, Yorkshire, England. He was buried in Selby Abbey, , Yorkshire, England.-
