I am not sure that this Robert is in Jay Cary's pedigree.  He names him(or his son) as "Robert de Cardinan2, 1, 3", as this is the 2nd Robert(Robert FitzWilliam being the 1st), and "1, 3" may mean that there arepotentially 3 Roberts in a row, as I have it.

I think that this excerpt from a post to SGM, 26 Sep 2002, by Ivor West,puts Robert in the pedigree, with a wife:

Perhaps I should point out that the pedigree, which you will find onp.1012, contains an error in that Watkin shows Robert, son of Robert fitzWilliam and Agnes Hay, married to Isabel, whereas Isabel was his sister.Her brother Robert fiz Robert died s.p. It was Robert de Cardinham whomshe married. That is how the fees of  Richard fitz Turold and Thurstanthe Sheriff (the de la Haye progenitor) passed from fitzWilliam toCardinham.

Robert seems to be the first to use the name Cardinham and, as yourextract relates, he gave it to the place called Thersent, held by Richardfitz Turold in DB, which Picken showed to be Trezance, now a farmstead inCardinham parish. Robert's ancestry is fairly obscure. I have my own pettheory about it which I won't bother you with at the moment.

Restormel Castle. Cornwall. Restormel originally formed part of the manorof Bodardle.

1086-Held by Turstin the Sheriff.
1100-The castle was probably built by Turstin's son Baldwin Fitz Turstin.
A later 12th century charter mentions the chapel beside Baldwin's Bridge:as this chapel is almost certainly the hermitage of the Holy Trinitywhich lay at the foot of the castle hill, it would seem that Baldwinbridged the river at this point, and he probably erected the castle tocommand the crossing.
1166-Robert Fitz William, Lord of Cardinham, held Bodardle, as guardianof Walter Hai the younger.
1186-Walter Hai the younger died without issue.
Bodardle passed to Fitz William or his heirs in the right of Agnes hiswife, sister of Walter Hai.
1193-Both Cardinham and Bodardle had passed to Robert de Cardinan(grandson of Fitz William) before this year.
Robert de Cardinan was a man of importance in the county, and laterbecame one of the Kings Justices.
1224-Robert de Cardinan was still alive.
1227-By this year the estates had passed to Robert de Cardinan's sonAndrew.
On Andrew de Cardinan's death his daughter and heiress Isolda de Cardinansucceeded to the estates. She married Thomas de Tracy.
1264-The earliest mention of the castle is its surrender by de Tracy inthis year.
1265-The declaration of seizure of the castle by Sir Thomas de Tracy thatSir Ralph Arundell sized Restormel from Simon de Montfort (this documentis in the Arundel Archives).
1270-Isolda de Cardinan granted the castle and certain lands to herover-lord Richard Earl of Cornwall and King of the Romans.
1272-Earl Richard was succeeded by his son Edmund.
