From Dr. Johnston's HISTORY OF THE FAMILY OF BRUCE, "Braose: The Castle of Broase, now Brieose": The town exists considerably south of Falaise and north of Briouze. "...two leagues from Falaise in Normandy; it was built by Robert de Braose who had two sons: Alan who with his posterity remained in Normandy and Robert de Breiose, who came to England with the Conqueror but died soon after."
"He left however two sons:
1. William who founded the baronial house of Braose of Bramber, Gowert, etc., and
2. Adam, ancestor of the Bruces of Skelton, Anandale, etc." [Annie Natale lli-Waloszzek <Xanadu2@wanadoo.fr, 19 Sep 2002]
