Raymond was born in 1055.1 Raymond's father was Count Raymond II Count de Barcelona and his mother was Almode de la Haute Marche. His paternal grandparents were Count Raymond I "the Crooked" Berengar of Barcelona and Sancha Sanchez Of Castile. He had seven half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Pedro Raymond III, Roger De Poitou, Hugh, Robert II [De Talvas], Hugh VI Le Sire, Count Of Toulouse Ct.of Toulouse, Raymond IV Count, Estephania De Barcelona, Almode and Garsende.
