Joan De was born about 1231 in Of, Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, England. Joan De's father was William Beauchamp Lord of Elmley and her mother was Isabel Mauduit. Her paternal grandparents were Welcheline de Beauchamp , Baron Beauchamp and Joane de Mortimer; her maternal grandparents were William V de Mauduit , Baron Mauduit and Alice de Newburgh. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Walter De, Walter, John De, Thomas De, Sybil De, Isabel, Sarah and Sarah. She was the oldest of the ten children. She died in 1280.-
