Adalbert I's father is Marquis Obert II D'este and his mother is Railende of Como.  His paternal grandfather was Marquis Obert I D'este and his paternal grandmother is Guilla of Spoleto; his maternal grandfather was Count of Como Wiprand. He had a sister named Bertha of Este.
