John Hales was born in 1740.1   John Hales' father was Matthias Ayres and his mother was Elizabeth Hales.  His maternal grandfather is John Hales. He had four brothers and a sister, named Nathan, Edmond, Matthias, Samuel and Mary (Mollie).  He died at the age of 88 in November 1828 in Buckingham, Virginia.1
