Death has been abroad in our land and has taken from us a very kind fri
en d, neighbor and relative, a devout Christian, and generous father. Su
ch w as the life and character of Wilis Green Warren whom death siez
ed on the 1 6th inst. His remains were interred at Poplar Grove burying gr
ound on t he 18th. The funeral was conducted by Revs. A. J. Whitley and Ja
mes Frenc h, with a host of friends and relatives in attendance. Gree
n, as he was kn own here, had been in feeble health since the death of h
is wife three yea rs ago and had suffered a great deal from heart diseas
e. Drs. Coakley a nd Sanders were the attending physicians in his last att
acks, and one of t hem was with all the time until the end came. But it se
ems that the grim m onster death baffled all the skill that medical scien
ce could sugges t. We can only hope that out loss is his gain, and whi
le we have lost a fr iend and relative from our midst, he has gained a ho
me beyond this va le of sorrow and tears gone to meet that wife and moth
er that have go ne on before. With an eye of faith we can see the dear on
es standing on th at beautiful and blissful shore of peace and happines
s, with outstretch ed arms, saying "Come on dear one. Come where sorrow a
nd trouble are now m ore."
