Dorcus A. was born on April 5th, 1840 in Cumberland Co., North Carolina.1 Dorcus A.'s father was William Madison Tutor and her mother was Tellatha Powell. Her paternal grandparents were William Owen Tutor and Lucinda Senter. She had a brother and a sister, named William Owen and Hixie Emeline. She was the second oldest of the three children. She had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named James A., Reuben S., Jessie Harris, Samuel Green, Alfred Young and Mary E.. She died at the age of 88 on December 23rd, 1928 in Harnett Co., North Carolina.1 General Notes
