Hugh Lawrence was born on January 30th, 1902 in LaRue Co., Kentucky.1 Hugh Lawrence's father was James William Smith and his mother was Bettie Underwood. His maternal grandparents were James Franklin Underwood and Nancy Ann DeWitt. He had two sisters named Ola and Hattie U.. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 75 on January 3rd, 1978 in Spring Valley, Bureau Co., Illinois. He was buried in Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Spring Valley , Bureau Co., Illinois.1 1 General Notes
