Gerhard Friedrich was born on July 21st, 1807 in Broxten, Germany.1 Gerhard Friedrich's father was Johann Friedrich Sander and his mother was Cathrine Marie Schnieder. His paternal grandparents were Johann Heinrich Sander and Catherine Elisabeth Eggemann; his maternal grandparents were Johanne Gerhard Schnieder and Marie Elisabeth Ballmann. He had three brothers and a sister, named Johann Gerhard, Johann Heinrich, Gerhard Friedrich and Cathrine Elisabeth. He was the oldest of the five children.1 -
