George was born on March 2nd, 1877 in Breathitt Co. Kentucky.1 George's father was Andrew Ritchie and his mother was Mahala Miller. His paternal grandfather was James Monroe Ritchie and his paternal grandmother is Hannah Fugate. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Hamilton, Orlena, Matilda, Rachel, Elizabeth, America, Martha and Nancy Ann. He is the second youngest of the nine children.General Notes
