Rene Chastain was born in 1799 in BUCKINGHAM CO, VA.1 Rene Chastain's father was James Hudnall and his mother was Rhoda Chastain. His paternal grandparents were James Hudnall and Mary Ann Warner; his maternal grandparents were Rene Chastain and Martha Guerrant. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William Thomas, John Wesley, Joseph Warner, Louise, Polly Ann, Narcissa, Sarah Ann and Child. He was the oldest of the nine children.
