His paternal grandfather was William Graham and his paternal grandmother is Leah Bloyd. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Vachel Clark, William Paschal, Benjamin Perry, James Wiley, Rachel, Dorothea Tabiatha, Cynthia Lee, Amanda Adaline, Orleana J. and James S..
