James Hightower Gardner 
James Hightower was born in 1836.1 James Hightower's father was John Gardner and his mother was Emeline "Emily" Beall. His paternal grandparents were Sterling, Sr. Gardner and Mary Polly Neal; his maternal grandfather was Robert Beall and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Jenkins. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert Beall I, Thomas Neal, John, Jr., Sterling Capers, John Brantley, Mary Neal, Caroline Narcissa and Sarah Melissa. He is the youngest of the nine children.-
