Thomas E. was born on December 25th, 1835 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Thomas E.'s father was Harrison DeSpain and his mother is Isabella Towne. His paternal grandparents were Peter DeSpain and Nancy Skaggs. He had two sisters named Eliza A. and Barbara E.. He was the youngest of the three children.
