Hi Dwaine, I just found your information of the Crane family in the W
or ld Connect Site. I really got excited, as I have been looking f
or mo re on this family for years! It started years ago when I came acro
ss the E .B. Crane genealogy. He listed an Amos Crane, b. 22 Nov. 17
65 in Brookfie ld Mass. He was listed as the son of Benjamin Crane and Sa
rah Wetherby. T here was more written on this family,
and it did say that although Benjamin had lived in the area of Brookf
ie ld for twenty or so years, there wasn't anything of evidence on his chi
ldr en.
I believe I have found this above Amos, and where Benjamin died. I sear
ch ed the records in Bethel Vt. and found that a Benjamin Crane had deed
ed la nd to his sons Amos and John Crane,. I have the Rev. War. pensi
on reco rd of Amos and he gives his birthdate of 23 Nov. 1764. Exactly o
ne day a nd one month different than the above Amos's birth date. Either t
his Am os didn't know his exact date, or the Crane Genealogy was wron
g. He al so lists his place of birth as Brookfield, and that he came to B
ethel wi th his father. There is a Benjamin Crane burried in Bethel, I don
't know w here, but he died 31 Dec.
1803. Amos died 7 May, 1841 or 44. He is burried in the Giliad ceme
te ry in Bethel, and his wife named Welthy is burried near him. He h
as a Re v. War marker at his grave.
I won't go on now, as there will be more to catch up on, but this Am
os fr om Bethel, I believe had a son names Amos W. Crane who married an E
sth er Glick in Sandusky Co. Oh. I have more on them to. My gr-grandfath
er Am os Crane, b.ca. 1835 in Sandusky Co. Oh. was in the Civil War and ma
rri ed Elizabeth Ann Hawk.
