Mary Williams was born on September 21st, 1830 in Alabama.1 Mary Williams' father was Henry Watkins Collier and her mother was Mary Williams Battle. Her paternal grandparents were James Collier and Elizabeth Bouldin. She had a brother and two sisters, named James Wyatt, Evelyn Hewett and Sally Bouldin. She was the oldest of the four children.
