1   John's father was Pierre Chastain and his mother was Mildred Archer.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Chastain and Maria Magdalene De La Rochefaucald?. He had five brothers and a sister, named Rene, Abner, Abraham, Archer, James and Martha.1
