William J. Bassham 
William J. was born about 1858 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.1 William J.'s father was Johnson J. Bassham and his mother was Martha Bassham. His paternal grandparents were James Monroe Bassham and Arta M. Holloway. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Eli H., Jefferson Wiley, Mary Elizabeth, Arte Mae, Sarah J., Amanda M. and Virginia Jenny. He was the third youngest of the eight children.
